Welcome to our website, and to make things less formal let us introduce ourselves as we are more commonly known, Brad and Bex!

We want nothing more than to see investors succeed, we own a property management business so we can be part of investors "A Team".  If you are looking for a property management team that does what they promise, that is honest and approachable, and that values the property management industry and offering quality services to both owners and tenants, then I think we might just be on the same page.

When growing our portfolio we soon learned that not all property managers are the same.  We believed we could offer a down-to-earth, commonsense service that understands property management is more than just the property, it is about people as well.  When you dealing with people and property you have large responsibilities.  From a property owner's perspective, you are looking after what could be their family home which they are entrusting you with or a huge investment that they are working to get ahead within the investment market.  For tenants, this is their home and they need to feel respected while living there and have a property manager who is approachable and personable.

Many times the difference in what makes a good property manager a great property manager, is their ability to read people and situations.  This will give them the edge to be able to pair the right tenant with the right property. We invest in our team so we know we can offer our clients a premium service based on processes, education, and results.  Our team, including management and business owners, are all qualified or working towards becoming Level 4 Qualified Property Managers.  We believe this shows our clients that we are so much more than just another property management company.

We started our business journey in Invercargill starting up Propertyscouts in 2015 and went on to purchase Propertyscouts Dunedin in 2017, selling the  Invercargill business and moving to the big smoke in 2020.  We have helped hundreds of investors purchase and succeed in investing and we could not be more thankful to be able to be part of so many success stories and meet so many wonderful people along the way.

We are not salespeople we are investors, so we believe we have a really good grasp of what our clients expect.  After winning Propertyscouts Franchise of the Year 3 times running, and runner up once we believe our success is due to our enthusiasm to improve the Property Management Industry and a genuine drive to add the good stories back into property management.

Rebecca or more commonly known as Bex is one of the owners of Propertyscouts Dunedin. Bex started her journey in 2015 starting up the Invercargill branch of Propertyscouts. As an investor herself she had a passion for the industry and seen a gap in the market to offer a premium Independent Property Management service.

Starting from the ground up the business grew quickly as a trusted name in the region. Her passion for investing gave her the ability to help investors grow their portfolios, and she was able to help them increase ROI and was able to offer knowledge of the area and expected yields to work to.

As an investor herself, she loves property management as it gives her the opportunity to help others grow and have success stories to share. Bex no longer has a portfolio to manage now focusing on the business itself to ensure the standards are kept. However her first hand knowledge of working as a property manager for 5 years and gaining her Level 4 Qualification in Property Management ensures the team has great support and she has the experience to assist with all areas of property management as needed.

Now living in Dunedin Bex is a cemented part of the team and enjoys getting out and meeting potential clients and taking some off the pressures from the property managers. They purchased the Dunedin franchise from Milton when he decided it was time to focus on the NZ Franchise as it became the trusted name in property management throughout New Zealand.

Operations Manager

Darlene Johnson (DJ), joined the Propertyscouts team after relocating from Christchurch in 2013 and is enjoying the upright buildings in Dunedin!

Prior to property management DJ owned and operated a cafe in Christchurch.  She has a very strong background in customer service and staff training.  She has completed the level 4 (senior) property manager qualification.

DJ is the Operations Manager for the Dunedin office.   She is totally focussed on ensuring that all of the Propertyscouts staff provide an outstanding service to our tenants and landlords, and that everyone enjoys the process along the way.

Donna has joined Propertyscouts with several years’ experience as a property manager and a landlord.

As a property investor she has experience of dealing with tenants, general maintenance, renovating properties, and ensuring properties are compliant with all current regulations.

Prior to property management Donna has worked in retail management and early childcare education.

She holds the NZ Certificate in Residential Property Management level 4, so has the skill set to meet the needs of tenants and landlords.

Outside of work Donna offers her time to various charity groups and along with her border collie Lucy has a huge passion for dog agility.

Bright, smart and bubbly is the first words that come to mind when describing Emma. Emma has finished her degree majoring in Sociology and minoring in Criminology,. Her skills give her a huge advantage when working with people as she has a way with words which gets results.

Financing her way through uni cleaning studios, she soon gained respect from the owners in which she monitored and cleaned the properties for. She has a very practical head, and when it comes to cleaning this girl knows how to get the job done, offering useful advice and tips to help tenants take good care of their home.

Outside of work she loves to get out and enjoy a walk with her partner and oversized dog, and when summer hits you will find her relaxing in the sun on Dunedin's great beaches.

After joining Propertyscouts as a letting agent to help over the busy summertime, we decided we simply could not let Shannon leave. Her enthusiasm and natural skillset for Property Management had owners asking to have Shannon as their property manager, so we made sure we listened and created a permanent position within the team.

Shannon was drawn to property management as a career as she has a strong interest in property and the urge to support people in a positive way.

Her work history is based on customer service roles which is what gives her an edge when dealing with people, as she has a supportive can-do attitude. A loving mother to 3 children has also meant she has fantastic negotiation and problem-solving skills, which helps her deal with the daily ever-changing challenges that the role delivers.

With her unique positive personality, Shannon is an asset to the Propertyscouts family.

Carmel comes to Dunedin Propertyscouts with years of experience in property management administration, most recently working at one of the other Propertyscouts branches.

Carmel has moved to Dunedin as she enjoys spending time with her husband walking her dog in and around the lovely Dunedin beaches and walks

She has a keen eye for detail and enjoys making sure all the "ducks are in a row"

She offers great support to the property managers and is a delight to have in the office, always willing to go the extra mile for the team and the clients

Kelly is our Office Administrator . She is kept busy with dealing with tenants, landlords and general rental enquiries whilst assisting the Property Manager's at the same time.

Her previous property management and office administration experience ensures the day to day running of the office is carried out efficiently and smoothly.

When she is not working, Kelly loves spending time with her family and enjoys keeping fit and active.

Ryan and Milton Weir, Propertyscouts NZ - Franchisors

Milton and Ryan Weir are the owners of Propertyscouts NZ (2020) Limited. Both have extensive knowledge of the property management industry. Milton has almost 40 years’ experience as a property investor and 20 years in various forms of property management. He co-founded the original Propertyscouts business in Dunedin and used its success as an initial ‘template’ to start the franchise system. Ryan (Milton’s son) has an extensive background in the banking industry as well as property management. In 2013 he co-founded the Auckland property management company Walker Weir. That company followed the original principals of Propertyscouts but also included some innovative strategies. In 2014 Ryan purchased his partner’s share of the business and continued to run the business until it was sold in 2020. At this time Ryan took the opportunity to start his own Propertyscouts franchise – Propertyscouts Auckland Metro and joined Milton as a co-owner of Propertyscouts HQ.

Milton and Ryan have a number of Propertyscouts franchise businesses operating throughout NZ and now also one in Queensland, Australia. Their aim is to make Propertyscouts the most trusted and well-known property management brand in NZ and hopefully one day Australia – well there’s no harm in aiming big! Although each franchise is a standalone business they operate using a proven set of property management templates. These templates are continuously evolving to ensure that the very highest standards of compliance and industry practice are maintained. On a yearly basis the franchises come together for additional training and the presentation of awards for exceptional service and performance. Milton is a member of the Residential Property Managers Association of NZ (RPMA). Ryan is Deputy Chairperson for the RPMA.

PSHQ exists to provide ongoing support and guidance to the franchise business units. On the very rare occasion that any client (Landlord or Tenant) has a complaint to make about one of the franchises Milton and Ryan are happy to step in and investigate, as necessary.
