Q. What information do tenants now have to be provided in a tenancy agreement regarding a landlords insurance

A. Firstly the tenant has to be advised whether or not the property is insured. If the property is insured (and we hope all the properties we manage are insured) the insurance excess applicable for any claims must always be recorded in the tenancy agreement. As well, the tenancy agreement must advise the tenant that a copy of the landlords insurance policy is available on request. Any such request must be complied with in a reasonable period of time.
