Laura Leaf
With a background in residential construction, project management, and client services, I've spent years helping people turn their properties into places they’re proud to call home. Property management felt like a natural next step combining my passion for homes with my love of working closely with people.
Through my building company, I had the privilege of project managing the Wairarapa Critical Repair Programme, and working closely with Whaiora. This experience gave me an in-depth understanding of Healthy Homes standards and what’s truly needed to ensure safe, quality living environments.
I chose to join Propertyscouts because their values match my own genuine care, reliable service, and focus on doing right by both landlords and tenants. No cookie-cutter approach, just local, tailored support backed by years of experience.

Jo Akuhata-Brown
With a strong background in hospitality, ranging from management to business ownership, I bring a high level of organisation and exceptional customer service to my role. I value clear communication, responsiveness, and creating positive experiences, understanding that every interaction matters. I pride myself on being approachable, solutions-focused, and proactive in meeting the needs of both owners and tenants.
Family is at the heart of everything I do, whether it’s camping at our favorite coastal spot in Gisborne or exploring new walking tracks together. I’m a creative at heart, passionate about designing, upcycling, and giving old pieces new life. I’m also proud to serve as a volunteer firefighter with New Zealand Fire and Emergency. In my spare time, you’ll find me surf casting at the stunning Castlepoint Beach or baking with my daughter.
My goal is always to ensure people feel heard, supported, and confident in the service they receive.
Pauline Bacon
With 12+ years of experience in Property Management, Pauline is a seasoned Business Development Manager, Team Leader, and Compliance/Audit Manager, skilled in both Residential and Commercial Leasing.
A licensed Customs Agent, she brings a unique perspective to the field.
Grace Li
Grace holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, with over 18 years experience as a Senior Sales Administrator. She has a strong interest in data analysis and database management. Prior to working at Propertyscouts, she spent a year working in property management administration. As a result, she brings not only her numerical skills and attention to detail, but a robust understanding of the property management industry.
